PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which retrieval method for automatically retrieving a featured region by using a whole image as a retrieval range has large processing loads and requires a long processing time.

SOLUTION: An image recognizing device for automatically retrieving specific regions satisfying retrieval conditions by using, as a processing object, an image including at least one subject where a pair or a set of featured regions are highly likely to exist is provided with a first retrieving part (a) for retrieving the region satisfying the retrieval conditions by using the whole image as a retrieval range and a second retrieving part (b) for setting the neighborhood of the featured region specified by the first retrieving part as the retrieval range, and for retrieving the other featured region satisfying the retrieval conditions.
