PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device capable of improving light extraction efficiency of a light emitting element and manufacturable by a simple manufacturing process; and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: An organic EL device of this invention is provided with an organic EL element 200 having a pixel electrode 141, an organic functional layer 140 and a common electrode 154 stacked on a flattened insulation film 240; and is so structured that a reflecting layer 141a is formed on the lower layer side of the organic functional layer 140; the reflecting layer 141a is extended outside the organic functional layer 140 in a plan view; and a slope part 141a1 facing to the organic functional layer 140 side is formed in the extended part. The slope part 141a1 is formed by making the reflecting layer 141a partially override a projecting part 240a on a surface of the flattened insulation film 240. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
