PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device, a recording method, a reproducing device, and a reproducing method which realize grouping with higher versatility and ease of use for a user by enabling registration for a common attribute in a folder so that processing based on the common attribute can be performed to content grouped in the folder, and a recording medium thereof. SOLUTION: The recording device for grouping the content in the folder and recording it on a recording medium (11) is equipped with first setting means (17, 25, 26) for setting the folder function information indicating the function given to the requested folder when a common attribute is requested to be registered in the folder, and second setting means (17, 25, 26) for setting the folder common information required for the function set up with the first setting means (17, 25, 26).
