PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate free running feeling of an engine, in an electronic control throttle valve device structured to fully open a throttle valve when an accelerator opening exceeds a reference opening. SOLUTION: Change in the accelerator opening while the throttle valve is fully opened is detected to determine that an internal combustion engine is in the maximum load state. In the maximum load state, when the accelerator opening is decreased, the internal combustion engine is controlled to decrease output torque of the internal combustion engine while the throttle valve is fully opened. When detecting increase after decrease in the accelerator opening, the internal combustion engine is controlled to increase the output torque of the internal combustion engine. Increase/decrease of the output torque can be carried out by increasing/decreasing ignition time, advancing/delaying ignition timing, increasing/decreasing EGR amount to an intake passage, and increasing/decreasing fuel injection amount. Consequently, a request for sport traveling near the maximum value of the accelerator opening of a driver is satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
