PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device capable of resuming various processings for paper sheets or a bundle of sheets remaining in the device after a jam stop condition is released, following the processing status before occurrence of the jam stop, and conducting the post-processing continuously. SOLUTION: The sheet processing device having sheet transporting devices 3, 22, 26, 34, 42, 44, 45 to transport the sheets or the bundle of sheets and processing devices 100 and 200 to apply the predetermined processing to the sheets or the bundle of sheets transported by the sheet transporting devices, is equipped with jam sensors 8, 13, 15, 24, 29, 35, 50, 51 to sense jamming with the sheets or the bundle of sheets, a control device to control the processing devices 100 and 200 and the sheet transporting devices so as to stop the sheet processing in conformity to the jam sensing signal given by the jam sensors, and a residual sheet processing start control device to control the processing devices 100 and 200 and the sheet transporting devices so as to resume processing the sheets or the bundle of sheets remaining in the device after the jam stop condition is released.
