PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make efficient transfer in a large and heavy rubbing machine while maintaining the precision. SOLUTION: This rubbing machine has a main mechanism 30 which includes a linear mechanism to linearly move the stage which is holding the glass substrate with a layout membrane formed on it at predetermined speed, and a roller drive mechanism supported by the roller support 13 and equipped with drive sources to set the angle and height of the roller 18 wound with a rubbing cloth and to turn it. Further, it has a separable auxiliary mechanism 31 which has guide rails 10 on both side of the above main mechanism 30 to turn the roller support 13 via the roller support turn slider to adjust the angle of the roller 18.
