<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive unit that can easily and constantly feed power, even with respect to a load request that abruptly changes. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 64a generates a signal Uc and outputs it to a voltage command calculating part 61a so that electrostatic energy Uc stored in a capacitor holds a threshold or larger, when a torque command value TR received from an external ECU lies within a prescribed variation range. The voltage command operation part 61a determines a target voltage Vdc_com of a boosting converter 12 being an inter-terminal voltage of a capacitor C2 on the basis of the signal Uc; whereas, the control part 64a determines power fed to an inverter 14 from a DC power supply B and outputs a signal Pb so that power is fed to an inverter 14 from the capacitor C2, preferenlly to the DC power supply B, when the torque command value TR does lie within the prescribed variation range.
