PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold an optimal distortion compensation state, regardless of the environmental change, such as an ambient temperature change or a gain variation, such as change in the lapse of time. SOLUTION: The distortion compensation amplifying apparatus includes a fist variable attenuator which is controlled according to the levels of an input signal and an output signal; an amplifier section for amplifying a signal; a distortion generating section which generates a distortion cancel signal which cancels distortions to occur in the case of amplifying a signal using the amplification section; a temperature detecting section for detecting an ambient temperature level; an input level detecting section for detecting an input level; an output level detecting section for detecting the output level; and a control section which controls a bias of the amplification section and further controls the components. The control section decides whether a bias is to be changed from values detected from the detection means for the input level, the output level and the temperature level and if it is decided to change the bias, it is controlled to change the bias so as to minimize distortion.
