PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner for properly reading an original without enlarging an upper cover, etc. SOLUTION: A CIS 11 is supported by a grip part 41 and a support axis 31, so as to be movable in a direction toward the upper cover 19 (rib 21), and biased in the direction of the rib 21 by a compression spring 17. Accordingly, there is no necessity to make the rib 21 movable, to secure a space for the movement of the rib 21, and to arrange a mechanism for moving the rib 21 in the upper cover 19.
