PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the operating mode of a network device, without troubling a user and to enable even a beginner who does not have much network knowledge, to realize a network environment. SOLUTION: A network device can be connected to a network and can select the network connection operating mode. The network device includes a network connection operating mode storage section for storing a plurality of network connection operating modes; a network communication section for transmitting request information requesting which network connection operating mode is to be set, to another network device connected to the network, and for receiving setting information in response to the request information from the other network device, and a network connection operating mode processing section for setting the mode to the predetermined network connection operating mode in accordance with the setting information.
