PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adapt to strength evaluation for a holder in a state similar to that in actual service condition, and obtain useful data for carrying out strength evaluation of the holder, in a short period of time. SOLUTION: When carrying out a rupture test of the holder for ball bearings, a housing 10 is inclined at a prescribed angle while rotating a rotary shaft 4; and then while maintaining the rotation of the rotary shaft 4, the holder 9 is broken. More specifically, the housing 10 is made to incline during the rotation results in a misalignment, and contact angles of respective balls 8 disposed circumferentially are made different from each other, whereby the difference in the rolling speeds is produced among the balls 8, and an excessive load occurs at a contact region of each ball 8 and a pocket of the holder 9. As a result, the holder 9 is excited intensely and finally leads to breaking. That is, the holder 9 can be broken, by utilizing a self-excited vibration of the holder 9 caused by rubbing generated in angular ball bearings 5, 5, rather than using impulsive forces from the outside, such as dropping impacts, forced vibrations and the like.
