PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method of detecting an abnormality of a rotating body that detects the abnormality of a rotating body, particularly a burst or a separation of the tread of a tire, at an early stage and hence can prevent the accident. SOLUTION: The device for detecting the abnormality of the rotating body is constituted of a measuring means 11 for measuring various physical amounts of the rotating body 1 in rotation, an extracting means 21 for extracting a signal synchronous with the rotation of the rotating body from the data measured by the measuring means, a determining means 31 for determining a condition of the rotating body from the signal extracted by the extracting means, and an abnormality warning means 41 for giving warning of abnormality when a condition of the rotating body is determined to be abnormal by the determining means.
