PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chisel allowing school children etc. to easily and pleasantly use the chisel. SOLUTION: The lower end edge of an outlet of the chisel formed on one side of a case body and the lower end edge of an opening matching the outlet of a lid body for covering a handle of the chisel projecting from the outlet are jouraled to each other in such a way that the lid body can be opened downward under the case body, and a spring energized in the direction of opening is mounted on the journaling part. The outlet of the case body and a top plate of the opening of the lid body are connected by a latch mechanism, and the lid body is automatically rotated downward under the case body when the latch mechanism is released.
