<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission display element having an electron emission structure for improving electron beam focusing characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A field emission display comprises a first substrate 110; a first insulating layer 112 formed in a prescribed form so that it has a prescribed height on the first substrate; a cathode electrode 111 that covers the first insulating layer and has a first opening 111a formed in a recess between parts for covering the first insulating layer; a second insulating layer 113 having a second opening 113a for exposing one portion of the cathode electrode while communicating with the first opening; a gate electrode 114 that is formed on the second insulating layer and has a third opening 114a communicating with the second opening; emitters 115 that are formed on a part positioned in the first opening in the cathode electrode and are arranged along both the side edges of the first opening so that they are separated with a prescribed interval each other; and a second substrate 120 that is arranged so that it opposes the first substrate with a prescribed interval while an anode electrode 121 and a fluorescent layer 122 are formed on one surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
