<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce resetting error of an operator and to eliminate useless copy creation in an image processing apparatus, such as an image forming apparatus or an image scanner. <P>SOLUTION: When a jam (JAM) occurs in an automatic document feeder 1 or in the image forming apparatus and the operator eliminates the jam by taking out a clogging document or sheet and when reading operation is started again by resetting a bundle of documents from a first document to an original platen of the automatic document feeder, first image information is acquired again and compared with image information stored before the occurrence of the jam.
