<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read use quantity of gas of a customer's site at a gas supply source at a remote place without complicating system. <P>SOLUTION: Cathodic protection voltage is applied on a gas pipe on the supply side to be buried underground and corrosion is suppressed. A gas meter is interposed between the gas pipe on the supply side and a gas pipe on the customer's side and gas consumption of the customer is measured. A sensor 102 is connected with the gas pipe on the supply side via a power supply line 110, inputs current for corrosion proof and uses the current as a power supply for operating the sensor 102. A signal from the gas meter is inputted in the sensor 102 via a conduction path 112.
