PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the display speed of an entire picture in the display method of a matrix display device. SOLUTION: In the display method of the matrix display device, a voltage is applied to a plurality of electrodes 1314 and 1415 on the basis of image information and display lines 1, 2, 3, ... m corresponding to respective electrodes to which the voltage is applied are driven to perform display corresponding to the image information on the driven display lines. Image information corresponding to a plurality of display lines is retrieved, and a plurality of display lines corresponding to the same image information are collectively driven in terms of time in the case a plurality of pieces of the same image information are present.
