PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing spring mud by geothermal steam by which spring mud containing various kinds of mineral components is obtained by exposing high quality clay to the geothermal steam and dissolving the same. SOLUTION: The production method comprises a process for gathering the geothermal steam 2 from geothermal steam gathering well, feeding the steam 2 to a treating vessel 3, exposing the steam 2 to the clay 4 to dissolve the clay 4 to form the thick spring mud 8, and filtering impurities such as the gravel or sand from the spring mud 8 by a filter 10.
