PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide more visual information on the rear of an automobile to a driver. SOLUTION: In a rear glass substitute for an automobile comprises a rear glass substitute body which is fitted to the automobile in place of a rear glass of the automobile, an image pickup unit to convert the picked-up image into the electric signal, and a camera cover part which is fixed to the rear glass substitute body to support the image pickup unit so as to pick up an image of the rear of the automobile. In this configuration visual information on a part not viewed by a side mirror can be provided to a driver by replacing the rear glass substitute body for the automobile by the rear glass of the automobile, inputting the signal of the image pickup unit in a monitor in the automobile, and projecting the image picked up by the image pickup unit on the monitor in the automobile.
