PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating sediment in a reservoir capable of treating the sediment settled on the bottom part of the reservoir by supply or discharge of agricultural water and also reducing a cost required to treat the sediment in the reservoir storing the agricultural water. SOLUTION: This method includes an effluent process for mixing the sediment 9 and the agricultural water 4 agitated by water flow from a drainage port 12 of the agricultural water 4 at the bottom part of the reservoir 1 to a drainage ditch 11 generated by rotating a handle 6 mounted on the upper part of a dike 5 for damming the agricultural water 4 stored in the reservoir 1 and moving a drainage open/close door 8 for closing the drainage port 12 of the drainage ditch 11 provided at the lower part of the dike 5 in an open direction and also moving an agitator 10 to flow out to the drainage ditch 11; and a separation process for separating the agricultural water 4, leaf mold, gravel, cobble stone, or the like 28, from the sediment 9 and the agricultural water 4 flowing out to the drainage ditch 11.
