PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat used water containing a substance allowing sedimentation into water containing a small amount of the substance allowing sedimentation in an apparatus for treating the used water. SOLUTION: The used water 44 containing a polar liquid discharged from a surface treatment integrated-line 10 having a degreasing treatment tank 22, a chemical conversion treatment tank 28 and an electrodeposition tank 34 is pH-adjusted by a neutralization tank 112 in a water separator 110 of the apparatus for treating water 100, and an impurity contained in the used water is flocculated by a sludge treatment tank 114 and a flocculation treatment tank 116. Then, supernatant water 122 and sediment are separated by a sedimentation tank 118, the sediment is filtered by a filter 120 and filtrate 124 is recovered. The supernatant water 122 and the filtrate 124 are supplied to an evaporator 140, evaporated water is returned to water by condensation, or the like, and the water is reutilized.
