A vial (10) and a level (80) including such vial are disclosed. The vial has a body (20) that forms a cavity (30) and has first and second ends (21, 22), a midpoint (23), interior and exterior surfaces, a pair of marker rings (41, 42) extending around the body, and first and second dark-colored bands (61, 62) around the body near the first and second ends, respectively. A liquid (53) and bubble (50) of gas (52) are within the cavity. The gas-liquid interface (51) is substantially enhanced in visibility, with the result that the bubble and its relationship to the marker rings are more easily seen. |
