<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for generating an RZ-DPSK signal in cost effective manner. <P>SOLUTION: A three-level zero feedback system signal is generated by compositing a data signal and a reversed data signal through differential amplifying with a clock signal, respectively. By driving an optical modulator by the signal, an optical signal of chirp-free, zero feedback system differential phase deviation modulation is generated. Conventionally, two optical modulators are required, but this method requires only a single optical modulator, to generate RZ-DPSK optical signal in cost effective manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
