<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas capable of exhibiting the properties as designed without generating a loss of materials. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst 1 for purifying the exhaust gas is provided with a first catalyst part 11 having a catalyst carrier substrate 10 having a plurality of cells through which the exhaust gas passes in a axis direction, a first carrier layer formed on the surface of the cell of the catalyst carrier substrate and a first catalyst metal supported on the first carrier layer, and a second catalyst part 12 having a second carrier layer formed on the surface of the cell on which the first catalyst part of the catalyst carrier substrate is not formed and a second catalyst metal supported on the second carrier layer. The catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas is characterized in that the catalyst carrier substrate 10 is exposed between the first catalyst part 11 and the second catalyst part 12. Thus, the catalyst forms the catalyst part as designed for the catalyst without generating the loss of the materials and suppresses the increase of the pressure loss. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
