PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode fluorescent tube driving device capable of protecting the cold cathode fluorescent tube against connection failures with a simple structure in the cold cathode fluorescent tube driving circuit making the cold cathode fluorescent tube turn on. SOLUTION: The cold cathode fluorescent tube driving circuit (102) making the cold cathode fluorescent tubes (121, 122, 131, 132) turn on comprises an abnormal current holding means (143) for holding an abnormal current flowing into the cold cathode fluorescent tubes (121, 122, 131, 132) and a control means (144, 141) for stopping the supply of voltage to the cold cathode fluorescent tubes (121, 122, 131, 132)in response to the abnormal current held by the abnormal current holding means (143).
