<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic braking apparatus which can be applied to the case requiring two pairs of functions as a braking machine. <P>SOLUTION: The electromagnetic braking apparatus is composed of an electromagnetic device 5 for releasing the brake for a body to be braked by releasing a pushing force of brake shoes 2a, 2b by driving first and second brake arms 3a, 3b against spring forces of brake springs 4a, 4b by an electromagnetic attractive force of an electromagnet 6 during power supply. The electromagnetic device 5 is composed of one or two fixed electromagnets, and one or two moving irons 7a, 7b.
