PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decrease of a printing speed by shortening a move distance of a carriage at the time of flushing. SOLUTION: A printer is equipped with the carriage for moving nozzles which discharge a liquid. The printer carries out printing to a medium by moving the carriage back and forth, discharging the liquid from the nozzles which reciprocate together with the carriage, and making the liquid struck onto the medium. The printer carries out the flushing action of forcibly discharging the liquid from the nozzles to prevent the liquid from being struck on the medium.
