PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a globe which can be selectively used in a manner of freely rotating for use in learning or the like, rotating at high speed to be used as a display, or functioning as a clock for displaying exact time. SOLUTION: A rotatably supported sphere of the globe is rotationally driven by a stepping motor. The stepping motor rotates according to a fixed number of pulse signals from a pulse generator. The rotation speed of the sphere can be changed between a display rotation function rotating at relatively high speed and a clock rotation function rotating one time a day. Under a display rotation instruction, the pulse generator generates a large number of pulse signals in a fixed time to make the sphere rotate at high speed. Under a clock rotation instruction, the pulse generator generates such number of pulse signals as to make the sphere rotate one time a day. Further, under a free rotation instruction, the rotational drive by the stepping motor is canceled and the sphere can freely rotate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
