PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension measuring method capable of detecting accurately the natural frequency of a belt-like plate. SOLUTION: Air pressure fluctuation generated by vibration of a metal plate 1 is measured by two low-frequency noise meters 4, 5 arranged respectively on a first position P1 on the upper surface side of the metal plate 1 to be excited and on a second position P2 on a horizontal plane including the metal plate 1. The differenceΔP between two pressure fluctuation data Pa, Pb at the first position P1 and the second position P2 measured by the two low-frequency noise meters 4, 5 is taken, and the difference data are subjected to frequency analysis, and thereby the natural frequency of the metal plate 1 is extracted, and the tension of the metal plate 1 is determined based on the extracted natural frequency.
