PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of cooling effect of an electric motor 30 even in the case of large capacity, and to prevent increase in the circulating amount of oil in a coolant circuit. SOLUTION: In a rotary compressor, an annular piston 22 is disposed in annular cylinder chambers C1, C2 of a cylinder 21, and the cylinder 21 and the annular piston 22 relatively perform eccentric rotating motion. The rotary compressor has a compressing mechanism 20 in which the cylinder chambers C1, C2 are partitioned into high pressure chambers C1-Hp, C2-Hp and low pressure chambers C1-Lp, C2-Lp by a blade 23. A low pressure space S1 communicating to a suction side of the compressing mechanism 20, and a high pressure space S2 communicating to a discharge side of the compressing mechanism 20 are formed in a casing 10, and the electric motor 30 is disposed in the low pressure space S1.
