<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enforce further a system stability without compromising on on-center feel and further reduce a noise of a positional differentiator, in particular. <P>SOLUTION: There is disclosed a method for generating a torque command signal compensated to be applied to an electric steering motor. In one example of a preferred embodiment, this method includes a step for generating an assist torque command signal 64 in response to a measured vehicle speed 42 and an inputted steering torque signal 50. An assist depending attenuation torque signal (74) is generated in response to an assist torque command signal 64, the measured vehicle speed 42 and an accommodated motor speed output value of the electric steering motor.
