<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus having multiple laser diodes, a detection means, and a control means. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus produces mixed light during the normal operation. The detection means measures light output from the laser diode and the control means (1) compares the measured light with a spectral reference and (2) sets a drive signal of the laser diode in response to the comparison result. In another embodiment of the present invention, a method is provided, comprising (1) a step for producing mixed light using multiple laser diodes with different colors, (2) a step for automatically comparing the measured value of the light produced by the laser diode with the spectral reference, and (3) a step for automatically setting a drive signal of the laser diode in response to the comparison result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
