PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colloidal crystal laminate capable of showing a plurality of optical characteristics and allowed to be used for wide purposes as an optical function material such as a photonic crystal, and a method for manufacturing the colloidal crystal laminate. SOLUTION: The colloidal crystal laminate 1 consists of a matrix 2 constituted of polymerizing hydrophilic monomers and a laminate 4 constituted of laminating a plurality of colloidal crystal layers 41, 42 having colloidal particles arrayed in the matrix 2, and a method for manufacturing the colloidal crystal laminate 1 is provided. The colloidal particles 3 are fixed in the matrix 2. In respective colloidal crystal layers 41, 42 constituting the laminate 4, the colloidal particles are arranged at approximately uniform distances in the matrix 2. The inter-particle distance of colloidal particles in one optional colloidal crystal layer 41 is different from the inter-particle distance of colloidal particles 3 in at least the other colloidal crystal layer 42.
