PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective hat capable of protecting the head of a child against an accident caused by turning-over and further protecting the head of a golf player, etc., against an accident caused by a golf ball which comes flying in the case of playing rounds of golf, capable of being flattened and made into a compact state, and therefore capable of being easily stored and carried. SOLUTION: This protective hat H1 has a hat body 1. The hat body 1 is structured by sewing six pieces of gores 100 together so as to form them into a crown 10 having a hemispherical shape, and attaching a brim 11 to a circumferential area of the crown. Band cloths 101 are sewn on the whole of the seams formed by stitching the pieces of the gore 100 together on the inside of the crown. A connecting band 102 is sewn on edge parts of the band cloths 101 to be formed into an annular shape on the whole of the circumferential area. A cushioning member 2 is provided on the inside of the crown 10. The cushioning member 2 has necessary length, so that one end of the member is fastened to a central part of the crown 10 and then the member is spirally provided from the the central part to the circumferential area at intervals.
