PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attach and detach the cosmetic housing inner tray of a compact container. SOLUTION: In a compact container for which an inner tray 6 for housing a cosmetic is fitted into a housing recessed part 7, both left and right parts of one part of a housing recessed part peripheral wall are formed into engaging plates 8 which are connected at an upper part and suspended and can be elastically swung in both inner and outer directions, and recessed and projected engaging means 11 are provided on the inner surface of the engaging plate and the outer surface of the inner tray 6. Also, a part of the bottom wall of the housing recessed part is turned to an elastic swing plate 13 which can be elastically swung in a vertical direction, and the free end of the swing plate is brought into close contact with or abutted to the lower end part of both engaging plates 8.
