<p>The present invention relates to a method of judging the type of digital versatile disc (DVD) to discriminate it is DVD-ROM (Read Only Memory DVD), DVD-R Once Recordable DVD, including DVD-R and DVD+R) or DVD-RW (Rewritable many times DVD, including DVD-RW and DVD+RW), the main steps include: reading out a tracking error signal from DVD disc, if the amplitude of the tracking error signal is over a first predetermined value, then it is judged that the disc is DVD-R, else reading out a RECD signal, if the RECD signal is zero, then determining that the disc is blank DVD-RW, else reading out a total strength signal, if the total strength signal is over a second predetermined value, then determining that the disc is DVD-ROM, else determining that the disc is DVD-RW which has been recorded with some information.</p> |
