PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber capable of easily removing an overcoated layer when connecting a coated optical fiber having a diameter of approximately 400μm or more made by overcoating a core fiber having a diameter of approximately 250μm with a coated optical fiber having a diameter of approximately 250μm. SOLUTION: In the coated optical fiber, an optical fiber having a diameter of approximately 250μm coated with ultraviolet ray curable resin is made into a coated optical fiber having a diameter of approximately 400μm or more by being overcoated with ultraviolet ray curable resin. Therein, the ultraviolet ray curable resin for overcoating has a Young modulus of≥100 MPa and≤250 MPa. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
