PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image an object in such a way that an image accommodating a desired part of the object can be printed or externally displayed. SOLUTION: A size of an image to be recorded on a memory card is acquired (S101); a print size in the case that a photographed image is printed is acquired (S102); the number of dots per 1 mm of an image to be printed is calculated (S103); the calculated number of dots per 1 mm of print is converted into the number of displayed dots on a display section (S104); and a guide scale on the basis of a result of the conversion in the S104 is displayed on a through-image (S105). A photographer adjusts the direction or a camera or a distance from a person to be photographed (object to be photographed) or the like so that the desired part of the through-image is contained in a desired size by taking into consideration the guide scale being e.g. 5 cm at print. Thus, the imaging apparatus enables the object to be photographed in such a way that the image accommodating the desired part of the object in a desired size can be printed or externally displayed.
