PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an elastic knit hat that can cope with different head sizes by allowing a hat to have a large elastic dimension tolerance. SOLUTION: In this method for producing an elastic knit hat, more than 50 % of yarn raw material is mixed with less than 50 % of elastic yarn and the yarn mixture is spun and the spun yarn is knitted to prepare a hat embryo that is larger than a prescribed size of the hat. Then, the hat embryo is heated by blowing steam or other heat source, thereby the hat embryo is allowed to shrink until the target dimension, finally subjected to sewing and forming. According to this production method, the elastic yarns added at the spinning step are allowed to shrink with steam or other heat source and the hat size can be precisely adjusted to a target dimension within a large elastic range.
