摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein starting property of an internal combustion engine is sometimes insufficient. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 10 is an internal combustion engine in which a mixture gas formed in a cylinder is burned and power is taken out from a crank shaft. The internal combustion engine 10 is provided with an intake valve 30 and an exhaust valve 40 provided on every cylinder; and a variable valve timing mechanism (VVT) 46 capable of adjusting an opening/closing timing of the exhaust valve 40. ECU 100 for controlling the internal combustion engine 10 controls the exhaust side VVT 46 to angle-delay first valve-opening timing of the exhaust valve brought after first combustion in an initial explosion cylinder at automatic starting of the internal combustion engine 10. As a result, a combustion pressure of the first explosion is efficiently taken out as power and the starting property of the internal combustion engine 10 can be improved.
