PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disintegrant capable of simultaneously satisfying contradictory requirements developing strength of formed product having high level in tablets of medicines, etc. and exhibiting excellent disintegrating property when taking tablets. SOLUTION: The disintegrant for tablets uses SO<SB>4</SB>type hydrotalcites represented by formula (1) [wherein A<SP>n-</SP>exhibits an anion having n-valence (n is an integer of≥1) other than SO<SB>4</SB><SP>2-</SP>, e.g. Cl<SP>-</SP>or CO<SB>3</SB><SP>2-</SP>; x, y, z and m each exhibit the following ranges: 2<x≤10, 0.5<y<1.5, 0≤z<0.5 and 0≤m<20].
