PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a turbulence in printing and also noise emission and prevent a thick paper as recording medium from being repulsed out and flying against a recording means etc. by precluding kicking at the time of going out of a transport roller couple when recording is made on the thick paper such as CD. SOLUTION: A recording device according to the present invention includes a control means to control the pressure contact and separation of the transport roller couple when the thick paper as recording medium is transported and a trailing edge sensing means to sense the position of the trailing edge in transporting direction of the thick paper when it is transported, wherein the control means controls so that the transport roller couple separates when the thick paper goes out of the transport roller couple on the basis of the sensing result of the trailing edge sensing means.
