The method involves inserting a socket (10) through an opening (8) of a flange (2). A radial lug (18) of the socket is axially pressed in a direction against a front side of the flange. A pipe (12) and the socket are welded or soldered together in a section of the socket. The socket is connected with the flange without aggregating substances. A pipe (14) is radially arranged outside or inside the pipe (12). An independent claim is also included for an exhaust gas system- flange link.
