The device for the creating of a vacuum in an aircraft for the operating of flying instruments and/or a pneumatic anti-icing system has a vacuum pump (1) and an electric motor (2) to drive it. The electric motor is a brushless motor with an alternating current drive and may be an externally rotating motor with fixed windings. The electric motor has a housing with ventilation openings and which in operation with the electric motor rotates relative to the vacuum pump.
