The rail joint detector has an optical joint detecting section and a joint judging section for judging presence of a joint according to information received from the joint detecting section. Information whether a joint is present is delivered from the joint judging section to a cage position correcting circuit, where the information on the cage position is corrected according to the information of presence on a joint.</p>
