<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluating method for performing the characteristic evaluation of a golf swing being different from a conventional method by a head speed which changes depending on a golf club head, a selecting method for a golf club by using an evaluation result acquired by the evaluating method, and in addition, a golf club designing method for designing a golf club in response to the evaluation result. <P>SOLUTION: At least two from among a moment of inertia of a golf club when the golf club rotates in the hitting direction of the golf club with a direction being orthogonal to the axis of the golf club shaft as the axis, the length of the golf club, the total mass of the golf club, and the position of the gravity center of the golf club are made into parameters. For restraint conditions for restraining a relationship between the parameters, a rotational energy amount by which the golf club rotates in the hitting direction right before a golf ball hitting at the time of a golf swing is determined as an already known fact.
