PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed change control device for a continuously variable transmission capable of restraining rapid rotation fluctuation by erroneous operation of a driver, capable of preventing the feeling of wrongness to the driver, and capable of preventing the load to a power train and collapse of a vehicle attitude by rapid power change during manual speed change operation. SOLUTION: This speed change control device for the continuously variable transmission has an automatic speed change mode continuously controlling a speed change ratio in accordance with the operation state of the vehicle, and a manual mode selecting a fixed speed change ratio among a plurality of fixed speed change ratios in correspondence with manual speed change operation with respect to a shift lever 5 of the driver. When the manual speed change operation is started, speed change ratio control for moving from the fixed speed change ratio before the operation to the fixed speed change ratio adjacent thereto after the operation is executed while a target speed change ratio is varied in accordance with a speed change operation position. The shift lever 5 is equipped with springs 50 always energizing to a predetermined neutral position, and an automatic speed change continuation control means is provided so that an automatic speed change continuation mode for automatically continuing speed change control executed before a speed change command value is rapidly changed is executed when the speed change command value is rapidly changed to the energizing direction by the springs 50 during manual speed change operation.
