PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set recording destinations when a plurality of partitions exist in one recording medium, in a recording apparatus performing recording on a freely attachable and detachable recording medium. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus capable of performing data recording to the freely attachable and detachable recording medium having the plurality of partitions, has a partition recognition part 1001 recognizing the partitions of the attached recording medium, a recording/reproducing part 105 selectively performing recording in an optional partition of the recording medium, a partition selection part 1002, a correlation storage part 1003 storing correlation information of recording settings and recording recording destinations and a system controller 106 specifying recording destination partitions of data based on the correlation information to form the recording position partitions.
