PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of the whole system while keeping the quality of a reception picture in a high state. SOLUTION: When both the receiving quality of a digital television broadcast signal and that of an analog television broadcast signal are within a tolerance, the demodulation result of an analog demodulation part 6 is outputted to a speaker 8 and a display 9, and the operation of a digital demodulation part 5 is stopped. Thus, when receiving picture and quality sound quality are sufficiently high whichever demodulated broadcast signal may be used (normal time), the demodulation result is preferentially selected and outputted by the analog demodulation part 6 of low power consumption, and the operation of the digital demodulation part 5 having large power consumption can be stopped. As a result, the power consumption of the whole system can be reduced while keeping the reception picture quality and the sound quality in the higher state than those in a method of outputting the demodulation result always preferentially by the digital demodulation part 5.
