PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which displays a three-dimensional picture with small light quantity loss. SOLUTION: The optical element (11) is composed by arranging a plurality of pixels (14) on which light is made incident and which emits at least two light beams, a light beam (La) having a first phase and a light beam (Lb) having a second phase which are mutually interferable. The first and the second phases are characterized by that the phases are preset as to give a complex amplitude distribution for generating a flat picture or the three-dimensional picture to an interference wave which is generated by the interference between the light beam (La) having the first phase and the light beam (Lb) having the second phase.
